On Saturday, June 29, 2019, the White House announced that the fourth tranche of tariffs on $300 billion worth of imports from China would not be implemented as China and the United States continue to pursue a fair trade deal.
The fourth tranche of tariffs was announced by the United States Trade Representatives on May 13, 2019. The public hearing on the proposed tariffs took place last week, concluding on June 25, 2019. Post-hearing rebuttal comments are still due no later than July 2, 2019, as the process for identifying the products on this list is ongoing.
Businesses potentially affected by the proposed 25 percent tariff on the fourth list of products should continue to monitor the progress of the negotiations between the United States and China for any changes that could result in its implementation.
