Importers of goods manufactured in China who have been taking advantage of the one-year Section 301 China tariff exclusions are discovering that their exclusions are now expiring, subjecting their imports to the 25% (List 1-3) or 7.5% (List 4A) tariffs.
The United States Trade Representative (USTR) office continues to review the one-year exclusions and has extended a small number of products; however, importers should be making plans for the expiration of the tariffs.
The USTR has included an “Extensions Granted” list in addition to the original exclusions on their website. It is extremely important that all importers follow the USTR exclusions and extensions notices published on their “China Section 301- Tariff Actions and Exclusions Process” page as noted below:
- $34 Billion Trade Action (List 1)
- $16 Billion Trade Action (List 2)
- $200 Billion Trade Action (List 3)
- $300 Billion Trade Action (List 4)
The Noatum Logistics Global Trade Management (GTM) team has compiled the following list of current exclusions for your reference: Section 301- China Tariff Exclusions Granted as of July 22, 2020.
Because the process of monitoring the exclusions is challenging, Noatum Logistics will be introducing a web resource page which will provide updated exclusion information on an on-going basis. Details will be released soon.
