The COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact all aspects of our industry, including warehouse handling for air and LCL shipments. Numerous terminals are reporting increases in terminal handling fees. Not only are warehouses experiencing reductions in personnel due to COVID-19, but they are also facing an increase in top priority PPE shipments. This has resulted in longer turnaround times on requests, including freight breakdown. Consequently, truckers are experiencing longer wait times. As an example, this week at Chicago’s O’Hare airport, up to 30 trucks experienced a 9-11 hour wait time in the recovery truck lines.
