Tannersville, PA, June 6, 2012—MIQ Logistics announced today a Community Give-Back to Monroe County through Pocono Alliance, Inc. and its partnering agencies.
MIQ Logistics, a leading provider of global logistics services, announced their intentions to donate a significant portion of salvage freight to Monroe County non-profits through Pocono Alliance, Inc. Thomas Meyer, Director of Operations stated, “MIQ Logistics believes in developing strong community relationships and quickly wanted to show its care for Monroe County.” “Demonstrate Good Citizenship” is one of the company’s six core values and is exhibited by their community reinvestment of products. “The donation to the community is being coordinated with Pocono Alliance, Inc. and Lending a Helping Hand,” said Meyer.
Pocono Alliance, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization located in Stroudsburg, PA. The organization’s mission is to improve the quality of life in Monroe County by identifying human service needs and working towards solutions. Meyer shared, “Pocono Alliance is recognized as the gatekeeper to many non-profit organizations in Monroe County and knows how our contribution can help the most. Their understanding of community needs is critical as we orchestrate this give-back.” Pocono Alliance, Inc. operates the comprehensive community helpline for all of Monroe County, which includes 800 services available to residents.
Their mission has also led them to develop a new initiative for Monroe County entitled, “Bridges Out of Poverty.” Michael Tukeva, Executive Director of Pocono Alliance commented that “Bridges Out of Poverty is a revolutionary approach geared towards ending poverty cycles through building self-sustainability. It is our intention to provide families in poverty with the necessary resources and relationships so that they may become self-sufficient.” Bridges Out of Poverty is often described as a “Hand Up, not a Hand Out” based on its principles that encourage families to take ownership of their lives and take the prescribed steps needed to better their lives. Lending a Helping Hand, another nonprofit organization that focuses on skill development those in poverty, is working with MIQ Logistics and Pocono Alliance to ensure delivery to Monroe County’s most vulnerable populations.
