The MIQ-China team has advised that China will hold an international maritime parade on April 23, 2019, to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy. Navies from several other countries are expected to participate. The parade is to take place in the Yellow Sea off the coast of Qingdao city in Shandong province. The following parade-related activities are scheduled:
- April 21, 2019: Over 30 naval vessels are scheduled to enter the Qingdao port during the day.
- Night of April 22, 2019, through April 23, 2019: Together, all of the naval vessels depart the Qingdao port to the parade waters and then back to the Qingdao port.
- April 26, 2019: All of the naval vessels are scheduled to depart Qingdao port during the day.
All other vessels are prohibited from sailing in the designated area during the above times, so ocean-going schedules from Qingdao will be affected accordingly.
The MIQ-China team will provide updates as they become available.
