Company doubles down on global logistics, selling its North America domestic transportation business unit to invest more in its worldwide operations
OVERLAND PARK, Kan., November 27, 2017 – MIQ Logistics plans to enhance its global logistics operations after the sale of its North America domestic transportation business unit. The company will use the proceeds to improve end-to-end logistics capabilities, expand its global footprint, enrich its global service portfolio and continue to invest in leading technology — all to serve the surging global demands of customers.
Resetting the company’s strategic focus on global services syncs with MIQ’s ongoing effort to position itself as a definitive international logistics leader.
MIQ will focus on expanding its flexible global supply chain solutions, augmenting existing integrated origin-to-destination global services and providing its growing base of international customers better bottom-line performance, improved returns on global outsourcing and industry-leading visibility tools.
“Our mandate has always been to provide global coverage with local subject matter experts, while delivering consistently superior services,” said John E. Carr, MIQ President and Chief Executive Officer. “Now, with the single focus on global supply chain solutions, we plan to inject increased resources into strengthening our core international logistics services to defend and further differentiate MIQ’s position worldwide.”
MIQ Logistics will sharpen its focus on global logistics services in Asia, Europe, Latin America and North America that include air and ocean international freight forwarding, customs brokerage, global trade management, project logistics, origin consolidation, vendor management, value-added warehousing and integrated supply chain solutions.
The company also plans to dedicate more resources to increase global supply chain visibility and control for customers, enhance account management programs, add new solutions to help customers achieve optimum levels of inventory, develop additional technology tools including a vendor portal, and grow carrier relationships to improve service level agreements with ongoing tracking and reporting.
The MIQ Logistics global leadership team will remain in place to ensure a seamless strategic transition. The company will retain MIQ Logistics team members around the world. The company will continue to operate over 60 company facilities in 20 countries in Asia, Europe, Latin America and North America; operate in and between all international trade lanes and maintain key network partners. Together, this enables end-to-end supply chain solutions.
